What makes us special

The part most trainings skip

You can read about facilitation in any book. The difficult part is what happens in the room: everyone goes quiet and you’re not sure whether to wait or step in, the conversation starts drifting, or a discussion takes twice as long as planned and ends without a clear outcome.

Most courses explain the concepts and then leave you to figure out the practice on your own, often without getting honest feedback on how you come across as a facilitator. This course takes a different approach. You facilitate, others observe, and you receive direct feedback while the experience is still fresh. That way, you learn not just what good facilitation looks like, but how it feels and works in real situations.

What is this about

Learn Facilitation by Facilitating

A 3-day in-person intensive in Berlin, capped at 8 participants with two trainers in the room the whole time. This is deliberately small. With eight people and two trainers, you don’t watch from the back, you facilitate real sessions yourself, you get watched closely, and you get specific feedback within minutes, not on a faraway evaluation form. Half the value is over-the-shoulder learning: watching the other participants facilitate, seeing what works and what dies, and taking the moves that fit your own style. The content of moderation training is fairly interchangeable. You can find the methods in any book.

What you can’t get from a book is a safe room to try them in, peers to learn from, and two experienced trainers giving you concentrated, specific feedback on how you show up. That’s what this is.

Learning Goals

Group Dynamics

Adapt your personality and methods to the group, the situation and the goal, so that you include the quiet ones and the dominant voices don’t take over.

Applied Theories

Apply the right model at the right moment and get real life experiences that work, so that you have always options for the next step.

Self-assessment and confidence

Gain an honest read on your own style, from yourself and from others, so that you are not self-improving alone in the dark.

What you will practice

What you will walk away with

Across the three days you’ll work through the whole arc of moderating a group:

  • Preparing: clarifying the real assignment, including the goals nobody says out loud, so you are not designing for the wrong problem.
  • Opening: framing, presence, and getting every voice into the room early.
  • Steering: transitions, handling time without stressing people, and reading when to open a topic up, narrow it down, or let it go.
  • The live moments: silence, tangents, interruptions, emotional depth, and the quiet people who won’t speak up in a big group.
  • Closing: ending so people leave with one clear takeaway instead of a vague „that was nice.“

Underneath all of it: finding your own way to moderate, in your own words, rather than copying anyone —including the trainers.

Read a group and adapt. A feeling for what a specific group and situation needs, and the range to adjust your style and methods on the spot; not from a model, but from having done it.

Tools in action. A set of methods you have actually used and experienced, so that you know how they apply in reality. And an understanding which one to use in which situation.

Practical tips, not theory. The small moves that make the difference. How to phrase an instruction, hold a silence, hand a topic back to the group, etc. The kind of thing you only pick up by doing it and getting feedback.

An honest perspective on yourself. A clear, calm sense of how you come across and where your own style is strong.

Who is this for

This is for you if:

  • You already stand in front of groups (or are about to) and want to get genuinely good, not just certified.
  • You are a manager, trainer, facilitator, or internal L&D / HR person who runs meetings and workshops.
  • You learn by doing and can handle direct, caring feedback.

This is probably not for you if:

  • You want a passive certificate you can sit through quietly. (You’ll be on your feet facilitating. That’s the point.)
  • You are looking for a one-size-fits-all script. We help you build your approach, not hand you ours.

What our participants say

The moderation workshop helped me realize that every group is different and that spontaneous situations are completely normal. Good moderation is not about sticking rigidly to the agenda, but about catching these moments and responding to them.

At the same time, I felt safe, valued, and heard at all times. Despite the short time, real connections emerged. That is something I consistently experience in workshops with Ümit and Samir, and one of the main reasons I keep coming back.

Just being aware of my role and my impact, through all the practice and your feedback, gave me real confidence and steadiness. I was noticeably calmer than usual. And on several things I simply acted better on instinct, thanks to the practice.

Practicing yourself and getting sharp, immediate feedback is one thing. Being able to watch two senior trainers facilitate live, over three full days, is another. That combination is what makes this workshop rare. Their professionalism is matched by real pragmatism, aliveness and passion for the craft and the people in the room. The space they created felt safe enough that I actually pushed my own edges and what I took away didn’t evaporate once the workshop was over.

Ümit

Techniques can be learned anywhere. Presence needs to be developed. I am not looking for a polished performance, but for presence, relationship, and impact in moderations. How do you create a room where people can be, think and contribute with authenticity? I will help you find your own way of facilitating: clear, connected, and real.

Samir

For over 20 years I have been facilitating team processes, as a leader inside my own teams and as an external moderator. When collaboration gets into a real, human flow, that is what makes my heart open. For me, workshops and moderation are a mix of applied frameworks, personal development, and genuine interplay with the group.
